From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A university is an institution of higher education and research, which grants academic degrees in a variety of subjects. A university is a corporation that provides both undergraduate education and postgraduate education. The word university is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, roughly meaning "community of teachers and scholars." HistoryDefinitionRepresentation of a university class in the 1350sThe original Latin word "universitas" was used at the time of emergence of urban town life and medieval guilds, to describe specialized "associations of students and teachers with collective legal rights usually guaranteed by charters issued by princes, prelates, or the towns in which they were located." The original Latin word referred to degree-granting institutions of learning in Western Europe, where this form of legal organization was prevalent, and from where the institution spread around the world. For non-related educational institutions of antiquity which did not stand in the tradition of the university and to which the term is only loosely and retrospectively applied, see ancient centers of higher learning. Im an upcoming Senior this year and I really need to start looking up different universities to go look at. Im planning a trip to go and look at colleges but i need a good idea of which ones i want to go to. I want to go to a University and I know that California has some of the best ones. I want to go into a double major, one in psychology and the other in Spanish. Do anyone have any good suggestions? Asked by Lizzy H - Thu Jul 30 16:12:23 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. UCSD, San Diego University, is an excellent school for psychology. And basically any school in California is a good school for Spanish, as many colleges so focus on the language because so many of the state's residents speak the language. I just googled "top landscape architecture schools" and hundreds of websites popped up. On the right hand upper part of this page there was a list of good schools. sometimes the programs with the smaller Landscaping areas have better outcomes for students. My mom's best friend graudated from U-Minnesota where it's tiny, but she had tiny personal classes, got great information, and got a fantastic reccomendation. As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions. My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.).
